New Airport Scanners Could Let You Bring Liquids Through Security

If you love to go on vacation or travel a lot for work, you’ll know that airport security can often be pretty tiresome. After all, you not only need to make sure that you’ve taken off any belts and removed the loose change that’s been in your pockets for months, but you also need to make sure that you’re leaving all liquids behind you. That’s because current policy states that liquids above a certain amount aren’t allowed through security. At least, until now.

Carrying Them Around

In today’s day and age, anyone looking to take liquids through security and onto the plane needs to make sure that they are not carrying any more than 100ml, and that these bottles are placed in a little plastic bag. As if that wasn’t enough, these plastic bags have to removed from your hand luggage before they can pass through the scanner. It causes a huge amount of ruckus at the airport, but that could all be changing.

New Technology

Heathrow Airport in London has announced that they will soon be deploying new scanning technology within their security area and that this new technology will allow passengers to keep their liquids in their bags as they pass through security. As if that wasn’t enough, it will mean that passengers can take more than the standard 100ml of liquid. It’s believed that it will limit the amount of single-use plastics used in the airport, and make things easier for passengers who want to pass through security quickly, and with more of their products with them. Although it will only be available at Heathrow to begin with, it’s suggested that other airports will invest in the technology as the years go by.

This is a huge advancement in the airport world and one that will make traveling much easier.
