The Embrace Smart Mirror is a new Android technology which basically serves as a mounted tablet behind a 40-inch mirror. While we can’t deny its edgy and futuristic design concept, it’s important that we provide an honest review of the product, including the Smart Mirror’s flaws and shortcomings.
Your first observation after setting up your new Smart Mirror will be that it’s practically impossible to capture a good photo of the device. You can try every possible angle. You can also try a selfie stick, or tripod. It won’t matter. The Smart Mirror will look much better in person than in any photo we show you.
Once you flick the bathroom light switch on, the mirror’s text seems to hover on the mirror’s surface. It honestly looks very cool. The time, along with the data displayed, is clear and easy to read if you’re standing within a few feet of the mirror.
Once the lights go out, you’ll be able to see the Android screen glowing grey behind the mirror because, as long as the device is on, it will never be entirely black. Once enough time goes by without using the Smart Mirror, the device will turn itself off and stay this way until the bathroom light is turned back on.
One minor issue you might find with your Smart Mirror is the limited number of compatible Smart Mirror apps. In the Play Store, you’ll find a handful of apps, but we would recommend Mirror Mirror. Its interface is simple, the text is easy to read, and there is room for customization.
While children will certainly find the Smart Mirror fascinating, and will probably spend a lot more time in the bathroom playing games or watching YouTube videos, adults will probably find it to be a bit foolish and impractical. But hey, if you’re into tech, why not give it a go?
