Imagine if you could use your phone to charge your headphones or smartwatch? According to some sources, Apple could be bringing in reversible charging with the iPhone 11, meaning you can charge your Airpods and Apple Watch just by putting them next to your phone. Are these sources right, however? And when can we expect this new addition?

Reversible Charging Isn’t New
While the idea of charging your other gadgets with your phone sounds new and exciting, Android users are probably rolling their eyes (again) at Apple users. In fact, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro and the Samsung Galaxy S10 already have these features. As tends to be the case in the cell phone world, however, it’s not always about who does it first – otherwise Apple certainly wouldn’t produce some of the best-selling phones on the planet.

What Sources Say
The rumor was first leaked by supply chain sources, but then analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also predicted that Apple would bring in reversible charging for the iPhone 11. Kuo is usually right with all of his predictions for the next version of iPhones, so people tend to sit up and take note when he speaks. Insiders say that the iPhone will act like a wireless charging pad, allowing you to put your Airpods and Apple Watch on a fully charged phone, to suck up some of its power. Pretty cool, huh?

When Can We Expect More Details?
The Wireless PowerShare technology, as it’s been dubbed by Japanese blog Mac Otakara, is thought to be announced when the latest iPhone model is announced. So, when will that be? It’s usually around September, so we can probably expect to see some new and exciting details around the later part of this year. According to sources, the iPhone 11 could be all about refining their camera and battery life, but only time will tell.
For now, we all just need to sit tight and wait for September to roll around. We’re excited to see what Apple has in store for the iPhone 11!
