The Price

The first thing to note about Spectacles 3 is the price. Spectacles 2 cost the consumer $150, but the price has more than doubled for the latest version. The new price of the fancy glasses will be $380 when they go on sale in November. Snap believes these high-end spectacles will encourage better sales and ultimately help them to recoup some of the reported $40 million they have lost so far on this project.

Adding Depth

The big difference between the latest glasses is the addition of a second camera. Snap claims this will add depth to images taken from the glasses which was missing before. The company also says it will include a wide range of exclusive 3D effects for Spectacles. Third-party developers have also been given the go-ahead to create their own effects to work with the glasses.

Other Features

The limited release glasses will come in either black or mineral and have adjustable lenses to combat the sun. You can capture pictures and videos by pressing a button on the top of the glasses which couldn’t be easier. A drawback of the system is that the pictures and videos do not automatically transfer to your phone. That means you have to upload and then edit them once your phone receives them.

Snap’s Spectacles 3 will be released in November, and the company is hoping that the new higher price tag will attract high-end customers wanting to stand out.
